Key Benefits

Your stakeholders expect you to plan for and deliver services that represent your communities and that provide best value.

They want you to be representing their interests, spending their money wisely and ensuring best value service provision however those services are provided. An organisation is not an island. It needs to have a wide variety of strategic and service partnerships - with public service organisations, with the not-for-profit sector and with the private sector. And often with all three.

These partnerships range from straightforward commercial procurement contracts, through strategic business partnerships to much more complex environmental and social partnerships.

Whatever the partnership, it needs to be established for the right reasons and needs to have effective corporate governance.

And that is difficult enough to establish even within one organisation, let alone across a partnership! How often do you find that when things go wrong, no-one is there to carry the can? Or worse, that you are held to account for the malpractice or poor performance of partners?

And these partnerships are subject to ever increasing audit and inspection. Ever felt that your critics and inspectors are queuing up to point the finger at your role in a failing partnership?

Do you need help to ensure that you are entering a partnership for the right reasons, or to establish effective or better governance in new and existing partnerships?

If so, our partnership diagnostic is a structured framework that we have developed based upon best practice in the public, not-for-profit, and private sectors. Whether your partnerships are formal structures, such as a PFI or a contract, or are looser alliances, we can help you to:

  • establish the need for a partnership
  • design a partnership - choosing the right vehicle, and the right partner(s) and undertaking due diligence
  • build a partnership - choosing the right routemap to achieve the partnership strategy
  • operate a partnership
  • close or exit a partnership.

In addition, we can help your organisation to identify and build upon its strengths and address its weaknesses in more straightforward procurements through our procurement diagnostic, which is a structured framework that we have developed based upon best practice in the public, not-for-profit, and private sectors to examine:

  • how major procurement decisions are taken and options evaluated
  • the  extent to which major procurements deliver what they promise
  • how your organisation learns from its major procurement experiences
  • what suppliers think about your organisation and its major procurements particularly its tendering, contract and contractor management practices
  • the procurement skills in your organisation.

Our advice is based upon best practice governance, procurement and risk management techniques and practices.
