Key Offerings

Our key offerings on leadership, culture and ethics are:

Key Benefits

Your stakeholders expect you to:

  • be Accountable
  • be Effective
  • show Integrity
  • be Open and inclusive
  • be Up-to date and innovative

in the way that you lead and conduct your organisation

They want all organisations to be well led, innovative, and responsive.

Yet they also want you to be, and be seen to be, whiter than white in the way that you represent their interests, spend their money and deliver good and services. They expect all those involved in planning for and delivering goods and services to be squeaky clean, efficient and helpful whether they are politicians, non-executives, direct employees, volunteers or  partners/contractors.

To lead effectively, you need to be listening to, watching and talking to all your stakeholders - internal as well as external.

But establishing the right leadership style, the right culture and an appropriate ethical framework is no mean task! Especially when you know that your world is full of critics and inspectors ready and willing to tell you where your standards and behaviour fall short of expectations. And the UK political and business world seems to breed a new critic every day. Ever felt that they are lining up to cry foul?

Do you need help to diagnose and remedy any deficiencies in your leadership?

If so, our board/team effectiveness diagnostic is a structured framework that we have developed based upon best practice in the public, not-for-profit, and private sectors.  It will help you to pinpoint the team's strengths and weaknesses and capitalise on or correct them.

Or do you think think your corporate culture and behaviours are not up to scratch?

Do you know where your inspectors will rate your corporate culture?

Are you a white knight or a rotten apple?

Do you need help to establish a better culture?

If so, our culture diagnostic is a structured framework that we have developed based upon best practice in the public, not-for-profit, and private sectors. It will help you to pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses in seven aspects of your corporate culture and capitalise on or correct them.

It helps to pinpoint what aspects of your culture are holding you back. We take soundings from around the organisation and from stakeholders to dig below the surface - as what is visible is so often only the tip of the iceberg.

Once you have a full picture, we can help you to work on improving those aspects that you feel uncomfortable about - whether this relates to leadership, ethics, communication, collaboration or innovation.

You will be well placed to:

  • continously improve and pursue excellence in governance and performance
  • prove to your stakeholders and inspectors that you are representing their interests in the best way that you can.

Alternatively, you may have a thorny issue that requires a special investigation to resolve it. These are the issues that go to the heart of the organisation's leadership and governance.

They are like a grub in the apple. Left untreated they will eat away it.

They might concern improper relationships, bullying, fraud, corruption, conflicts of interest or other inappropriate behaviours.

It is often best to call in objective, external support to investigate such matters - not least because internally led investigations can be career limiting for the investigator. We have a wealth of experience in dealing with the most sensitive governance issues in a discrete and professional way.

Our Capabilities and Credentials

We are extremely well placed to help you to help you to improve your conduct and culture either through a diagnostic framework or through a special investigation.

Shelley Thornton is an acknowledged authority on corporate governance and  has been involved in initiatives on better governance,  higher standards of conduct and counter fraud in the UK and internationally for many years. For example, she has been involved in:

  • UK cross sector better governance and counter fraud initiatives such as the Fraud Advisory Panel
